I honestly told my wife this was a top ten meal for us, all time. The server, Andre was absolutely fantastic. Every item that touched the table was so incredibly good. From the bao buns and fries green tomatoes as starters, to the crispy beef and pad thai entrees, then finishing with the red velvet cake. Sublime. I cannot believe we waited this long to eat here.

Poor Calvin’s was a true dining experience! Our waitress, Ariel, was absolutely exceptional—she made our visit next level. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and so much fun. Everything from start to finish was fabulous, and the food was outstanding. The flavors were incredible—each dish was uniquely paired and absolutely delicious. Ariel described every dish in detail and offered great recommendations. Even with our group’s different cocktail preferences, there was no lack of attention to detail. When I say we had a dining experience, I truly mean it. Thank you to the entire staff, and especially to Ariel, for making it so memorable!

We first came to Poor Calvin’s about 4 years ago for date night and loved it so much that we always said we would come back. My husband surprised me by bringing me back here for my birthday this year, and it was just as amazing as we remembered. He ordered the Grass Fed Australian Lamb Chops and I had the Lobster Fried Rice. Both dishes were perfectly cooked and packed with flavor. For appetizers, we had the Fried Calamari and the Seafood Spring Rolls. The portions were generous, and we were so full from the starters that we only had a few bites of our entrées at the table and took the rest home. The service was excellent throughout the evening. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and when she found out I was celebrating my birthday, she surprised me with a cute little dessert and a candle. That personal touch made the night feel extra special. From the food to the service to the atmosphere, everything was top-notch. Whether you are celebrating a special occasion or just enjoying a night out, Poor Calvin’s never disappoints. Highly recommend!

Poor Calvin’s is an absolute gem that delivers one of the most memorable dining experiences you can have in the city. Chef Calvin Phan is a true master of flavor—his ability to blend Asian influences with Southern comfort is nothing short of extraordinary. Every dish feels intentionally crafted, thoughtfully balanced, and packed with bold, unforgettable flavors. I ordered the popular lobster fried rice, and it did not disappoint. The portion was generous, the lobster was tender and plentiful, and the seasoning was perfect. The lobster wontons were equally impressive—crispy on the outside, rich and decadent inside, with a sauce that tied everything together beautifully. The seafood spring rolls were light, flavorful, and wonderfully fresh, making them an excellent starter. And the desserts? Absolutely phenomenal. I tried the pound cake, which was warm, moist, and comforting in the best way. The peach empanadas were a standout—not too sweet, flaky, and bursting with flavor. Chef Calvin clearly puts as much care into his desserts as he does his savory dishes. Overall, Poor Calvin’s is a must-go restaurant. Whether you’re a foodie or simply someone who enjoys great flavors, this spot offers an experience that will stick with you long after the meal is over. Highly recommended!

I had a great time celebrating my birthday here. The food was delicious, fulfilling, and seasoned just right. Jo-Jo was a great server. He explained each menu option we inquired about. He was very patient with the eater that needed exclusions and made a great suggestion for a meal that was suitable. Definitely returning.

If you have high expectations of this restaurant then your expectations will definitely be met. We walked in for our 7pm reservations and were met with friendly staff and a grown and sexy vibe. The dimly lit establishment isn't too big or small, perfect for an intimate dinner. Our waiter, Gavin was amazing! He was very personable and professional. He was knowledgeable of the menu, giving us the spotlight entrees of the evening and taking our order, and even gave us great suggestions based on what we liked. The food?! Omg, you will be thoroughly pleased. Everything came out on time, hot, fresh, and a healthy amount. Everything has a unique flavor and was absolutely delicious. The drinks accommodated our meals perfect. Not too strong, but definitely strong enough to make a good night better. Lol. All In all definitely put this on your list.

This was my third time here and surprise surprise, I enjoyed everything! It can be a little hectic sometimes, but this place is amazing. The crab beignets may have been my favorite from the small bites. We got the scallop and lobster drunken noodle and it was great, I wish the scallops were seasoned a little more or marinated to soak in some flavor. PHO cocktail may be my new favorite cocktail ever. Overall 10/10. Highly recommend and our server Ariel last night was so great! She broke down the flavor palette of the drinks and food so well. Come here ready to eat and with a desire to try new things, they do fusion right here!

Awesome Experience. My very first time trying them and I must say I was impressed. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu and what to order based off what you had a taste for. The drinks were very good and packed a punch. The food was great and plentiful. I ordered the Drunken Scallops and Seafood and it was delicious. A tad Pricey but definitely worth the experience. Only negative is the seating on the inside is small and tight especially if you want more of an intimate setting
